A few days ago I was listening to a CD I've had for some time and I came across a song on this CD called, "Mera Sacha Si Pyar, that I became obsessed with. The result was this poem. Below I've posted the song for your listening pleasure while you read the poem and after. -Tamia-
My lover left me some time ago
still I hold him dear in my heart
He's no mere memory
For I live and breath him with each passing day.
My lover
can you hear my song?
I sing it everyday to pacify my restless heart
The heart you once tended to like a priceless work of art.
Remember our song?
The one that once tied us in nights
of unbridled passion.
Remember you feed me ripened fruits
then lick the juices from my lips and hands
and I fed you from my bosom of
which you took much delight.
My lover
I've cried a river of tears
so many tears that I've
found myself drowning in desire.
I've suffocated on this store of love
and found myself desperate to breath you again.
My lover
Do take pity on me.
I've tried to no relief to end this suffering alone
I'm so sad to say the end I can not see.
The fire you lit so many years ago
yes, it still burns.
How I wish I could accept that you are gone
but it seems I'm destined to suffer.
I say, if this is what I have to endure
in hopes that one day you'll return
I won't complain
instead
I'll count it a blessing and continue singing our song.
The quirky Gallagher family includes a mum who's disappeared, a boozing dad and six very dissimilar kids: surrogate mother Fiona, moody Lip, in-the-closet Ian, bipolar Debbie, rowdy Carl and toddler Liam. Living in a Manchester housing project, the anarchic clan gets into all manners of misadventures. The critically acclaimed and hilarious British series has received numerous accolades, including a BAFTA TV Award for Best Drama Series.
I've had this DVD for a while now and was bored yesterday and decided to watch it. I was pleasantly surprised. This movie was incredible from beginning to end. The singing and acting were superb.
The Plot
U-CARMEN is a feature film based on Bizet's nineteenth century opera filmed on location in a modern South African township setting. The energy, compassion and heat of township life in all its elements will create a constantly visually interesting and dynamic background for the unfolding of the story.
The Carmen story owes part of its huge popularity to the thrilling combination of a violent gangster tale with a passionate almost supernatural love story. As it unfolds it explores issues of fame and wealth, the position of a strong and independently minded woman in a very masculine society, and perhaps most importantly, the incomprehensible attraction between abuser and victim.
Bizet's opera, based on Prosper Merimee's novel, premiered in Paris on March 3, 1875. Set in a poor area of Seville, the story of the magnetic woman who seduces, loves and ultimately destroys her lover and herself, is well known. Girl (Carmen) seduces boy (Don Jose), boy becomes completely obsessed, girl leaves boy for another (the Matador), boy in a jealous rage kills her. Carmen's mother-obsessed soldier lover who is displaced by the glamorous matador is one of the greatest tragic figures in all of musical theatre. But the story is her story. Why does she push her soldier into violence? Why doesn't she escape at the last moment? What drives her to destruction?
Although these fascinating aspects of human relationships are explored in a penetrating and at times uncomfortable way this is no intellectual journey but a bawdy, passionate, vibrant tale with enormous warmth and heat and some of the greatest tunes ever written. The fantastic vitality and huge skill of the performers from Dimpho Di Kopane make an impact beyond that achieved by any filmed opera to date. The soundtrack, recorded by Dimpho Di Kopane with Imbumba, a young South African orchestra, combines Bizet's score with traditional South African music creating a powerful musical experience.

Mira Nair's film, Migration, deals with AIDS as the great class leveler in society by following its transmission through interweaving stories linking urban and rural India. Shiney Ahuja plays a rural labourer who leaves his wife for work in Mumbai, where he gets mixed up in a dangerous triangle with a frustrated wife, performed by Sameera Reddy, and her closeted husband, played by Irfan Khan. Migration is one of four short dramatic films by cutting-edge Indian directors Mira Nair, Vishal Bhardwaj, Santosh Sivan and Farhan Akhtar that aim to dismantle myths and misconceptions about HIV/AIDS.
Saw this yesterday. Funny "quirky" dutch musical.
Another of my favorite "quirky" films.
Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain had to be the first movie I posted. It's one of my most favorite films. I immediately fell in love with Amelie and her impish little grin. I also really loved this film for it's quirkiness. The cinematography is great.
